"The very best time of year!"

One of my favorite things about the holidays is the time. I do my best to get whatever grading I plan to do over the break, and finish it before I go. That leaves me time to do two things: Read, and Write. I plan to spend most of the free time I have over this break doing both of those things.

I've taken a sufficient enough amount of time away, and am now ready to tackle those revisions for my WIP. At the same time, I have some reading to catch up on. Marcus Sakey's THE BLADE ITSELF, Alexandra Sokoloff's THE HARROWING, Jeffery Deaver's THE BODIES LEFT BEHIND, Lori G. Armstrong's HALLOWED GROUND, and Jason Pinter's THE MARK are sitting atop my TBR pile.

And I await Christmas time (and J.D. Rhoades, and Sean Chercover, and Toni McGee Causey, and Louise Ure, and Robert Crais, and Laura Lippman, and....) for the same reason, as I will be asking almost exclusively for books this year. Hey, any small boost I can give to the publishing biz, I plan to.

So, what are you planning to read over the break, and is your writing getting some time on the docket as well?

Wow, Jake. You have quite a list there. As far as writing, I'll probably be doing that a little more. I have an agent interested in seeing some pages (even though the book's not done yet). I'm hoping that the sample pages and synopsis I send will be enough for a bite. We'll have to wait and see though.

Hey R.J., that's great!! Keep everybody posted on that! As far as the reading list, I'm not a fast reader by any stretch, but it's just so rare during the school year for me to get any good reading time, so I try to take advantage when I can. Have a good holiday!

That's about as solid as a reading list can get. Enjoy. I'm working on my second book, which leaves too little time for writing. I've recently discovered Reed Farrel Coleman, can't believe it took so long. I started with Soul Patch, and will spend the rest of the year catching up with his earlier books.

Mr. Perez, I know what you mean. I read one of Coleman's shorts in THESE GUNS FOR HIRE (or maybe it was GREATEST HITS). Anyway, it was really good. I guess I'll have to add him to my already ridiculous TBR pile.

Also, I know KILLING RED is out in 2009, so please drop by and keep us posted when it's coming out!
